Week 6: Christian Aid Week | Children@Apostles
Welcome to Virtual Church for Christian aid week do you know that some people are so poor that they can’t afford food, or let their children go to school? Christian aid is a charity that helps the poorest people in the world. When we go back into church have a look at the display about them on the wall near the hospitality table. This week we will explore how we can help people. Remember we would love to see pictures of your activities, in the comments or in our virtual café. Also, we would love your comments on the songs, we will be able to sing any you like together when we meet again.
Read 2 Kings 4:1-7
or watch this video telling the story:
3 Things to think about:
1. Who would you ask for help if you were in a lot of trouble?
2. How did God meet the woman’s needs in the story?
3. How do you think the people who knew the woman felt when the oil didn’t run out?
1. Word search
See how many times you can find the words POT OF OIL in the wordsearch ➡️ https://www.biblewise.com/kids/images/fun/pot_of_oil.pdf
2. Jammy Heart Drops
If we could meet this week Melanie would have had a coffee morning selling cakes and biscuits and give the money to Christian Aid so why not have a go at this recipe and then if we do have a bake sale later in the year you could make them to sell there ➡️ https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/jammy-heart-drops
3. Make and Pray Prayer Maze
Life is really hard for poor people. It can seem like you’re lost in a maze. So make this maze to help you to think about how hard life can be ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fspSWYwh14
You will need paper, straws or string, glue and felt tip pens.
Pray this prayer with your family:
Dear God, thank you for the gifts of life, relationships, health, comfort and wealth you have provided. Thank you that even in times of need, despair and brokenness you are there. Please, put your arms around children and families in extreme poverty, so they feel comfort and hope; meet all of their needs. Amen.
Don’t forget to keep saying the Lord’s prayer at noon every day.
One of our songs reminds us that God is with us whatever we are doing “Every Move I Make”:
This one helps us to praise God even in difficult times and is called “Never be shaken”:
